What is a phobia?
- Having a phobia means you are extremely afraid of a specific object, situation or activity --- having a phobia is something very different about everyday worry or stress. people with phobias have so much fear that it is hard to do normal activities, such as going to work.
- Having a phobia includes feelings stressed about being near the object, being in the situation or doing the activity. (also includes being scared) People with phobias avoid the problem or situation to not be afraid or stressed.
The different kinds of phobias.
- Natural environment phobias, such as storms or lightning.
- Animal phobias, such as spiders or dogs.
- Blood-Injection-Injury phobias, such as blood and getting a shot.
- Situational phobias, such as flying, elevators (closed places) or bridges.
- Other phobias, such as choking/puking, (children; loud noises, characters and clowns.)
